New book: ‘European Film Remakes’
(29-03-2021) CIMS members Eduard Cuelenaere, Gertjan Willems, and Stijn Joye published a volume on the textual, socio-cultural, political, and industrial dimensions of European remake practices
As such, European Film Remakes combines historical and contemporary approaches to film remakes in Europe, while also:
- Investigating, next to the textual, socio-cultural and political dimensions, the often neglected industrial, financial and production-related dynamics of European remake practices
- Providing a mix of different methodologies, ranging from comparative textual analysis to production, promotion, and reception analysis
- Taking into account both popular and art cinema remakes
- Examining European film remakes within local, regional, national, transnational or transcultural contexts
- Offering new theoretical concepts and methodological models that take into account both the distinctive and universal aspects of film remaking in a European context
