GIES organises their very first debate on the strategic consequences of the West's withdrawal from Afghanistan on the 20th of October 2021.
On the 20th of October 2021, the Ghent Institute for International and European Studies organises their very first live debate.
Birgitte Mathys (OCAD) and Bashir Bernard Siman (Brussels Diplomatic Academy) will discuss the geopolitical implications of the West's withdrawal from Afghanistan, with specific attention on transatlantic relations, the balance between Great Powers and the impact on future interventions.
The debate will be facilitated by our own Sven Biscop (GIES & the Egmont Institute).
The debate will take place in the Academieraadzaal, Volderstraat 9, 9000 Gent, in both Dutch and English.
